Palazzo Mantegazza is one of Europe’s most intriguing buildings. Open, light-filled interiors with wide lake-view windows reflect the limpid style of the vision that drives the Switzerland Eye Research Institute.
Crystal partitions allow patients and visitors to enjoy the light and the view, as well as to appreciate the wide range of devices and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment the centre has at its disposal. The desire to cultivate transparency and accessibility in both physical spaces and demeanour is reflected, for instance, in the fact that the operating room is entirely transparent to allow those accompanying the patient to watch the operation, if they so wish.
ACCESS TO THE CITY
Ideally located for the city of Lugano, the building is within easy reach of the Lugano Sud motorway exit and adjacent to Riva Paradiso, where there are numerous excellent hotels which are partnered with the Institute. The centre of Lugano is a short, pleasant walk from Palazzo Mantegazza along the lakeside promenade.
Palazzo Mantegazza has ample parking for visitors, numerous shops, and an exclusive restaurant bar.
